Birth Date - August 20th -- Summer Girl!!!
Birthplace - San Francisco, CA! The French Hospital to be exact. Mom says I was purple and almost didn't make it. What do you know ... now purple is one of my favorite colors. Look at that!!! All things work together for good ...
At the moment, the classic black and white "Breakfast at Tiffany's." You've GOT to see it! There's a kitty in the flick!
Filet Mignon Medium Rare, Crab, Asparagus and Mashed Potatoes with gravy! I'm addicted to Jelly Bellies, too -- blueberry and buttered popcorn!
Favorite TV Show?
My PC answer is "The 700 Club" -- well, that's the show I produce for, anyway. I do like reality shows where people swap lifestyles. And Dancing with the Stars is fun! Let's HUSTLE! :)
Favorite Currentfm Artists
Casting Crowns, Newsboys, Shawn McDonald, Lincoln Brewster, Zoe Girl, Mercy Me, Justin Unger, Chris Tomlin, Owl City
If I were a candy bar, I would be...
A Milk Chocolate Ghirardelli square with soft caramel on the inside. The ones you can get two for a dollar in the shiny metallic wrappers. They're not big, but they're rich in taste and worth the money. Precious, valuable! Makes me think about how the Lord sees each of us we are each mere humans, spots on this earth but WORTH Christ's death :) Plus, the Milk Chocolate Ghirardelli square comes from San Francisco like me and it's smooth, palatable and has something seriously good on the inside. I hope what I have on the inside is good, too. Man looks at the outward appearance. But God looks at the heart!
What is your life bible verse?
Romans 5: 1-5 - Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Don't we all long for peace? I know I do, on a daily basis. And any real peace I have comes from Christ. I've been through a lot of trials in my life and I know that my character is always being developed. But I love this verse because it goes beyond character to HOPE. When I was coming out of surgery after being ill for six months and not knowing what I was going to do with my life (see how I ended up in radio below,) the Lord brought HOPE to my heart and then showed me this verse in Romans. Almost losing everything that was important to me drew me close to Christ, closer than I'd ever been. And truly gave me a thankfulness for the life God's given me. Hope is the anchor of the soul. Without it, without hoping (trusting and believing) -- where would we be?
How you ended up in radio?
Ever since I can remember, I've enjoyed holding a microphone, exploring life, and talking to people about their experiences. I graduated from Oregon State University in Broadcast --my goal at the time was to be a TV host of a magazine show. I started out as a Page at NBC and worked in secular television for about 8 years in New York City as a producer. Then I got sick and had to move home with my mom. I was out of commission for 6 months and ended up having some major surgery for Crohn's Disease. During this time, I listened to a ton of Christian radio, and I spent a lot of time getting intimate with God -- listening to His voice, rather than just "talking to Him." I asked Him what He wanted me to do with my life-- I said I'd do anything, and it didn't have to be TV or media anymore. I didn't need that for my identity. Well, I heard God say "Christian Media." The call was confirmed by several people whom I had worked with in a Christian Video Ministry in NYC. I had no idea how it would happen, but I did my part and started looking. Ultimately, God brought me to CBN, where I did a little on-air work -- but not as much as I would have liked. So I thought... 'God, where else would you like to use my gifts and talents?' And I stopped by what we know today as Positive Hit Radio, the Current -- WJLZ. It was another form of Christian Media, one I had never explored before!! That was over seven years ago. I started as a night time host for a two hour shift. When we became the Current in 2005, I began hosting the mid-day show and later came onto the morning show for about a year and a half. Today, it is my pleasure to spend time with you and share life together M-F 10a-2p, Sunday 8a-noon for the Heart of Praise, and around 7:30am every Wednesday morning as we turn it all "Inside Out" and look at simple things in our everyday lives from God's perspective.
What do you do with your free time?
I'm a thrift store junkie, trying to kick the habit. I love to shop. I also love meeting for coffee with friends. I'll usually choose rollerblading, biking, jogging or hiking over going out to eat. I'm always analyzing things and writing about what God shows me. In the summer, I hang-out at the Bay and Beach, -- and hit the activities at the oceanfront. A walk at Seashore State Park always does my soul and body wonders! All other seasons, I love theater, art and culture. As well as photography and scrap booking. I get great joy in sharing Jesus with people, and of course I cherish prayer/ladies care group and bible studies. I like spending time by myself (with God) and always look forward to hearing God's voice. I love culture, love to travel, read, line-dance, watch Boardwalk (my cat) and other neighborhood strays, talk with mom, and take piggy back rides on my beau's-- aka Superman's-- back. :)
The One Thing that Positive Hit Christian Radio The Current Listeners DO NOT know about you...
I'm pretty much an open-book. But on a light side: I sucked my thumb until I was about 6. Now, my right thumb is shorter than the left one. On a serious note, one day I'd like to host a nationwide, call-in night-time show -- a cross between Delilah and Dr. Laura -- with a variety of life topics and a heavy focus on Christ.
